Ester-105 serves as a highly efficient collector and frother in the flotation of sulfide ores. Compared to traditional collectors like xanthate and pine oil, it significantly reduces reagent consumption—often to one-fourth or one-third—while improving concentrate grade and lowering costs. Applications in mines such as the Tonghua Copper Mine show that it simplifies operations, ensures stable performance, and enhances recovery rates.

This reagent is typically applied as a brown liquid, immiscible with water. Due to its relatively high freezing point (around 22°C), heating or solvent mixing is sometimes required in colder conditions to maintain efficiency.
